Last week we held an action-packed soccer clinic—the second in a series of sports clinics planned across Australia. For this leg of the tour, we were excited to bring former Matildas Soccer Captain Melissa Barbieri to the kids of Albury.
To kick things off, Melissa shared her number one goal for the day—stay safe & have fun—before she and the squad of fifty kids hit the field. For nearly two hours, kids ages 5-12 practised flicks, kicks and tricks and learned what it takes to make it to four FIFA world cups!
Melissa was struck by every kid’s enthusiasm and motivation to give new skills a go. “I love working with kids who love to try new things and aren’t afraid of making mistakes because that’s what helps us learn the hard stuff!” the Olympian said.
From the first dribble to the last goal, the event celebrated learning, movement and community. It was alive with skills, drills, water breaks with new friends and plenty of time for photos and ball signings with Melissa. The kids even got a sneak peek at Timeline—a cool video feature which just launched in the Elanation app!
The Albury community loved having a champion in their area. “My kids really enjoyed the Elanation Sports Clinic with Melissa Barbieri”, said one mum of two superstars who attended the clinic. “My hope is that this will be their turning point of their soccer life. Again, thank you very much for giving us a great experience!” she concluded.
The chance to connect and inspire kids and families is equally as gratifying for Melissa. “Elanation really has gifted me an opportunity to impact the lives of so many kids both in person and virtually through an engaging app with high-quality technology. Bringing together even the remotest of communities to be part of our football family.”
If your family missed Melissa in Albury you can find her in the Elanation sports app! Download the app on iOS or Android and join our squad! Your kids can learn anywhere, anytime.
